9. Thomas Jones, Virginia
Jones picked up right from where Tiki Barber left off in Charlottesville. A pure runner, Jones slashed his way to 3,998 rushing yards (4.9 per carry), besting the program record set by Barber, and 37 touchdowns. During his junior and senior seasons, Jones led the ACC in rushing touchdowns: 13 and 16, respectively.
In the 1999 campaign, Jones set a UVA record for single-season rushing: 1,798 yards, which at the time was the top mark for the ACC, too. As a senior, Jones finished eighth in the 1999 Heisman Trophy vote.
