The parents of Matas Buzelis, one of the top prospects in the 2023 recruiting class, will meet with North Carolina’s staff on Thursday, April 28, per ESPN’s Jeff Borzelo.
Buzelis, a 6-foot-9 forward from Chicago, plays his prep ball for Wolfeboro (NH) Brewster Academy, a powerhouse program in the Northeast. Buzelis is a 5-star recruit; 247 Sports ranks him as the No. 4 player in the 2023 class, while ESPN has Buzelis at No. 11.
This news comes the same day that UNC landed 2023 5-star power forward GG Jackson.
North Carolina will meet with Matas Buzelis’ parents tomorrow in Chicago for an in-home visit, sources told ESPN. No. 11 prospect in 2023.

Currently, Buzelis is uncommitted; however, he has significant interest from several programs, including a couple of Blue Bloods. Duke and Kentucky are the current leaders for Buzelis, although Florida State, Wake Forest and Arizona are in the mix, too.
Obviously, this is a bold move for Hubert Davis and North Carolina. Along with Jackson, the Tar Heels have another commitment from 5-star combo guard Simeon Wilcher, a Top 20 prospect in the 2023 class.
Unsurprisingly, the Blue Devils — led byJon Scheyer — have a strong 2023 recruiting class, too. This group includes international 6-foot-4 combo guard Tyrese Proctor and 6-foot-8 small forward Mackenzie Mgbako — both 5-star prospects.
Recently, Proctor and Mgbako joined a trio of previous 2023 commitments for Duke: 5-star point guard Caleb Foster, 5-star shooting guard Jared McCain and 4-star forward forward Sean Stewart.
Get ready. With Davis and Scheyer, a new generation of UNC and Duke teams look set to battle on the court and along the recruiting trail.
