Miami picks up commitment from 4-star SF Matt Cross

After taking a series of official visits over the summer, 4-star small forward Matt Cross committed to Miami. One of the top small forward prospects in the 2020 class, Cross plays prep ball for Brewster Academy — up in New Hampshire.

A 4-star prospect, 247 Sports ranks Cross a the No. 22 small forward prospect in his class. He’s also a top-100 prospect, overall.

As Michelle Kaufman of the Miami Herald notes, Cross picked Miami over several other strong programs. Florida, Indiana, South Carolina, Texas A&M and Butler were all in the mix, too. Cross took an official visit to Miami’s campus on June 19; he also visited Florida, Butler, South Carolina and Texas A&M. Cross, who stands 6-foot-6, is a tough, physical player who adds to Miami’s depth at the wing.

While playing in the Nike EYBL circuit this summer, Cross averaged close to 23 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.

Cross is Miami’s first 2020 commitment. However, Miami will also add Cincinnati transfer Nysier Brooks to the rotation that season, too. Miami just put together a strong 2019 recruiting class, which rank inside the top 30 nationally — led by 4-star guards Harlond Beverly and Isaiah Wong.
