The commitment of Benny Williams is a big deal for Syracuse, which put together a strong week of recruiting. First up, 4-star power forward/center Frank Anselem committed to the Orange on Wednesday; Anselem is the program’s third 2020 pledge. Then, on Thursday, Syracuse broke ground on its 2021 recruiting class with Williams, who picked Syracuse over Maryland, Miami and Georgetown. Florida was in the mix, too.
Standing 6-foot-8, Williams is a 4-star small forward in the 2021 class. 247 Sports ranks Williams as the No. 37 overall prospect (No. 9 SF) in the class.

Williams is Syracuse’s first commit for 2021; his recruitment was led by assistant coach Adrian Autry. Autry was also the lead recruiter for Anselem.
Syracuse already has a 2022 commitment on the books, too: 5-star point guard Dior Johnson, who committed back in February.
