The 2020 Maui Invitational is moving east for 2020. According to a report from college hoops insider Jon Rothstein, the 2020 Maui Invitational will in fact — as has been speculated for several weeks now — take place in Asheville, North Carolina.
The 2020 Maui features a strong eight-team field, including the North Carolina Tar Heels. The event run run from Nov. 11-Dec. 2.
Due to COVID-19, a variety of early-season, high-profile tournaments will change location. For example: the 2020 Battle 4 Atlantis will move to South Dakota.
Back in early July, the tournament still planned on taking place at its annual host site in Hawaii; however, at the time, organizers started to form contingency plans, too.

Field includes North Carolina, Indiana, Texas, Alabama, Providence, Stanford, UNLV, and Davidson.

Earlier this week, the NCAA announced that Nov. 25 will mark the official start date for the 2020-21 college basketball season. As of right now, the ACC still plans to have a non-conference component to its scheduling model; along with participation in a multiple-team event (MTE), like the Maui Invitational, teams will also have additional room for other out-of-conference foes.
