Pittsburgh’s coaching staff has had a productive December on the recruiting trail, and on Sunday, the Panthers landed another commitment when junior college wide receiver Juwann Winfree pledged to Pat Narduzzi and Co:

Originally a member of the 2014 recruiting class, Winfree committed to Maryland in September 2013 and played his freshman year with the Terrapins. During his rookie season in College Park, he caught 11 passes for 158 yards and two touchdowns.
Winfree was suspended for the last two games of the 2014 campaign for a violation of the student-athlete code of conduct, and he was suspended indefinitely this past summer for another violation. The Englewood, New Jersey, native didn’t play another game for the Terps and eventually transferred Coffeyville Community College.
While at Coffeyville this fall, Winfree hauled in 55 receptions for 837 yards and seven scores. On the weekend of Dec. 12, he took an official visit to Pittsburgh and committed to the Panthers just a week later.
Rated the No. 12 JUCO receiver this recruiting cycle on the 247Sports Composite, Winfree is the seventh prospect to commit to Pitt’s 2016 class this month. The Panthers now how 19 players pledged to that group.
