Pittsburgh quarterback Tom Savage is recovering from concussion-like symptoms and is expected to play on Oct. 12 against Virginia Tech.
Savage left last Saturday’s 14-3 win over Virginia in the fourth quarter after taking a helmet-to-helmet shot from Cavaliers defensive back Daquan Romero. Wide receiver Tyler Boyd described Savage as “drowsy” on the sideline while wide receiver Devin Street called Savage “dazed.”
Pitt spokesman E.J. Borghetti said Monday that Savage is only dealing with “mild symptoms” and is making progress.
Savage completed 13 of 30 passes for 190 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions while also enduring seven sacks against the Cavaliers. Pitt (3-1, 2-1 ACC) has won three straight games for the first time since 2010. The Panthers are off this week.
