Pittsburgh added another piece to the 2016 recruiting puzzle on Friday when defensive end Zack Gilbert committed to the Panthers. The Charlotte, North Carolina, native is the 12th player in his class to pledge to Pitt.
The son of former Pittsburgh great Sean Gilbert, Zack is a consensus 3-star recruit. The 6-2, 260-pound prospect currently attends South Mecklenburg High School.
With Gilbert on board, Pitt’s 2016 group is rated No. 62 nationally on the 247Sports Composite. The senior held several Power 5 offers before choosing the Panthers over finalist Virginia Tech.
