The defensive front has been a focal point for Pittsburgh’s coaching staff during the 2016 recruiting cycle, and on Wednesday, the Panthers added their second D-line commitment of the last week. Just five days after Pitt legacy Zack Gilbert decided to follow in his father’s footsteps, defensive end Patrick Jones gave his verbal to Narduzzi’s staff.
“I have to further my education and athletic career at The University of Pittsburgh!!” Jones wrote via his personal Twitter account.
A native of Chesapeake, Virginia, Jones is rated the No. 35 senior in his state on the 247Sports Composite. According to Maxpreps, he logged 8.5 sacks, 83 total tackles, a forced fumble and recovery at Grassfield High School this fall.
Following Jones’ decision to commit, Pitt has 13 prospects pledged to its 2016 class.
