For just the second time since 2001, Pitt missed the NCAA tournament this season, wrapping up its 2014-15 campaign with a 19-15 record following a loss in the first round of the NIT.
Throughout most the year, the Panthers weren’t as strong on the defensive end of the floor as usual. Despite a midseason stretch that included wins over Notre Dame and North Carolina, Pitt fell well short of a bid to the Big Dance.
While the program is coming off one of its worst finishes in the Jamie Dixon era, a veteran roster returns for next season. Dixon brings back three players — Jamel Artis, Michael Young and James Robinson — who started every game this season, as well as another player — Chris Jones — who started 21 of the Panthers’ 34 games.
