Wake Forest-Boston College result overturned; ACC moves to “7-and-1” rule

Boston College was scheduled to play at Wake Forest this week. However, one day before that game, the BC program entered the COVID-19 protocol — with multiple players testing positive for the virus.

Initially, this resulted in a forfeit win for Wake Forest; for about 24 hours, the Demon Deacons were 2-0 in the ACC. That’s now been changed, though.

ACC athletic directors voted to rescind that forfeiture. Additionally, the league will now move to a “seven-and-one” rule for participation. Basically, a team must play if it has at least seven available players and one coach.

Currently, three ACC men’s basketball programs — LouisvilleSyracuse and Boston College — are in the protocols.
