Luke Maye will return to UNC for senior season

This comes as no real surprise: Luke Maye plans to return to North Carolina for his senior season in 2018-19. After testing the draft waters — a nothing-to-lose opportunity — Maye announced on Instagram that he plans to return for his fourth and final season in Chapel Hill.

Back on April 23, Maye announced that he would enter the NBA Draft process, but would not hire an agent. It was a move that made a lot of sense; Maye didn’t receive an invitation to the 2018 combine; however, he was able to workout with teams, like the Atlanta Hawks.

Luke Maye’s Return

During his breakout junior season, Luke Maye averaged 16.9 points, 10.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists. One of the top inside-out scoring threats in the nation, Maye was named first team All-ACC.

Veteran wing Cameron Johnson also returns for UNC; so, too, does senior shooter Kenny Williams. That veteran nucleus — plus the addition of an excellent rookie class — sets the Tar Heels up for a potentially big 2018-19 season.
