As expected, Jonathan Kuminga will reclassify to the 2020 class. Originally the No. 1 prospect in the 2021 recruiting class, the 6-foot-8 Kuminga will accelerate his timeline. On Sunday, Kuminga graduated from The Patrick School in New Jersey.
Two weeks back, Kuminga cut his list of potential schools down to four: Duke, Texas Tech, Auburn and Kentucky.
However, there’s no guarantee that the 6-foot-8 Kuminga will play college basketball. Kuminga will also consider following Jalen Green’s footsteps — forgoing college and taking part in the NBA and G League’s development program.
The G League developmental program is seen as Kuminga’s most likely path, according to some experts. If he is to play college ball, Duke is a long-shot among the remaining programs. Texas Tech and Auburn are the favorites if Kuminga doesn’t head pro.
UPDATE (6/11): According to Evan Daniels of 247 Sports, while video surfaced of Kuminga graduating from high school early, the decision to reclassify into 2020 isn’t official, yet. However, there are strong indications that it will happen. After which, Kuminga is expected to enter the G League program.
