Pitt loses its first 2017 commit

Just over 10 months ago, Exree Loe became the first player in the 2017 recruiting class to commit to Pitt. On Monday, he became the first prospect in the class to decommit from the Panthers.

In a post on social media, Loe announced that he is reopening his recruitment, stating that he made his original college decision too early:

A native of Johnstown, Pa., Loe had been one of three in-state players committed to Pitt. He’s considered the No. 13 rising senior in Pennsylvania, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. Had he remained a Panther pledge, he would have been in line to join a talented secondary that includes 2015 ACC Rookie of the Year Jordan Whitehead and highly touted 2016 signee Damar Hamlin.

With Loe now considering other options, Pitt has seven players committed to its 2017 group.
