With rosters set for the 2022-23 season, it’s time to focus on the schedule; the ACC/Big Ten Challenge is only a few months away. Here’s a look at the matchups for the 2022 event — with the scoop from college basketball insider Jon Rothstein.
North Carolina at Indiana
This game will pit two of the top teams in the country against one another. North Carolina returns a star-studded veteran nucleus, along with the addition of transfer Pete Nance. Indiana has plenty of talent, too, including senior power forward Trayce Jackson-Davis, who will clash in the post with Armando Bacot — two of the most dominant interior players in college hoops.
The Hoosier will also bring in a Top 10 recruiting class, led by 5-star guard Jalen Hood-Schifino and 4-star forward Malik Reneau.

Maryland at Louisville
This marks the second straight season that Louisville and Maryland will meet up, although this contest will come with a completely different set of coaches. Mike Pegues was filling in for the suspended Chris Mack when Louisville defeated Maryland on Nov. 27. Mark Turgeon stepped down a week after this game.
This will mark the first ACC/Big Ten Challenge for Kenny Payne and Kevin Willard, Maryland’s new head coach.

Purdue at Florida State
This is another rematch for last season. Back in 2021, Purdue crushed Florida State un in West Lafayette, 93-65. However, Jaden Ivey and Trevion Williams are gone; FSU has a really solid group back, led by Matthew Cleveland, Jalen Warley, Caleb Mills and Darin Green Jr.

Ohio State at Duke
This, too, marks a rematch from last year’s 2021 ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Back on Nov. 2021, Ohio State handed Duke its first loss of the 2021-22 season, winning at home 71-66. Those two rosters combined to send six players to the 2022 NBA Draft, including Malaki Branham and EJ Liddell from OSU.

This also means that NC State, which finished last place this past season in the ACC, will sit out the 2022 ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Unfortunately, this means no Terquavion Smith — one of the best players in college hoops — in the event.
