One of the top players in the 2019 recruiting no longer plans to attend Duke; Boogie Ellis, a 4-star combo guard from California, was released from his Letter of Intent to Duke. The initial report was made by Evan Daniels of 247 Sports.
Ellis initially committed to Duke back in November of last year. He signed with the Blue Devils during the early signing period, tood.
According to @DukeMBB spokesperson @MikeDeGeorge, the program is granting Boogie Ellis' wish to be released from his LOI. https://t.co/KbStvE2owX
No further comment from Coach K or the program.

At the time of his commitment, North Carolina was working hard to land Ellis; however, Memphis has emerged as the leader to nab Ellis, per Daniels.
This decision from Ellis comes less than two weeks after Duke landed a commitment from another top-35 2019 prospect: 4-star wing Cassius Stanley.
Now down to four players, Duke’s 2019 class currently remains No. 1 in the nation. Again, though, Memphis could close some ground if guys like Ellis and 5-star guard RJ Hampton head that way.
