4 ACC commits named to 2022 McDonald’s AA roster, including Duke’s Dariq Whitehead

The roster for the 2022 McDonald’s All-American game was announced by ESPN this afternoon. In total, 24 players were selected, including a quartet of future ACC stars.

    • Dariq Whitehead, 5-star SF, Duke
    • Dereck Lively, 5-star C, Duke
    • Mark Mitchell, 5-star SF/PF, Duke
    • JJ Starling, 5-star SG, Notre Dame

As ESPN’s Jonathan Givony pointed out on Twitter, Kyle Filipowski — a 5-star center and a Duke signee — was left off the roster. This is because Filipowski is in his fifth year of prep basketball; he repeated 10th grade. As such, the game has rules against participation from fifth-year players.
