Syracuse took itself off the NCAA Tournament bubble in early February when it self-imposed a postseason ban. At the time, it was thought of largely as a strategic move, falling on the blade in a year when an NIT appearance was more likely than an NCAA one anyways.
But, assuming the NCAA wouldn’t have handed down the postseason ban on top of its long list of other sanctions (it probably would have, but let’s pretend), did the Orange actually take themselves out of the running when they would have made the field?
