Redshirt freshman offensive lineman Denzel Ward (Chicago, Ill.) has been medically disqualified by team physician Dr. Todd Battaglia from further participation in football and any other contact sports at Syracuse University.
Ward has lingering pain and discomfort in his foot due to a condition that requires surgery.
Ward has never appeared in a game for the Orange. The Chicago, Ill. native redshirted the 2014 season. A captain at Neal F. Simeon High School, Ward helped lead the Wolverines to two city championships.
After two road games, Syracuse returns to the Carrier Dome Saturday, Nov. 14 to host Clemson on Stars and Stripes Day, presented by Time Warner Cable.
