SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Orange senior quarterback Terrel Hunt (Rosedale, N.Y.) suffered an injury to his right Achilles tendon during the first quarter of last night’s season-opening win against Rhode Island. Hunt will be scheduled for surgery in the coming days and as a result will miss the remainder of the 2015 season.
It’s the second year in a row Hunt has had his season cut short by injury. In 2014, he broke his left leg against Louisville and missed Syracuse’s final seven games.
Hunt has played in 19 career games for the Orange and ranks 10th in team history with 2,621 passing yards. He has accounted for 24 career touchdowns (11 passing, 13 rushing) and shares the Syracuse single-game record for the most rushing yards by a quarterback with 156 last season versus Maryland.
The Orange returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 12 when it hosts Wake Forest in the ACC opener for both teams. Kickoff is slated for 12:30 p.m. at the Carrier Dome.
