Syracuse has thrown its hat into the recruitment of Ted Kapita, a relatively little-known big man in the 2015 class.
Kapita is an African native who is playing for the Florida Air Academy in Melbourne, Fla. He’s currently rated as a three-star center, though he’s reportedly primed for a leap into the four-star tier.
Kapita’s high school coach said Syracuse has offered. Texas, Florida, Georgetown, Kansas, USF and Michigan State have all also offered, Rivals.com reported.
Kapita is a big body with a raw game. He’s an accomplished rebounder and an above-average athlete who could thrive with proper coaching.
At this point, Syracuse’s interest in Kapita is likely an insurance plan in case the recruitment of Moustapha Diagne falls through. Diagne is a four-star forward who has listed Syracuse at the top of his list for the majority of the process. Diagne is also considering Ohio State, among a few other schools.
Diagne is likely to make his decision this summer. If he elects to go elsewhere, Syracuse will get more involved with Kapita.
