It’s the age-old issue regarding a sports figure of importance:
Was he the reason the team got as far as it did, or would the team have done even better with a replacement?
A good example: Malik Rosier. He won his first 10 games as a starting quarterback this season, steering the Hurricanes into College Football Playoff position by Thanksgiving.
But the way the Canes crashed out after that – a disappointing Black Friday loss at Pittsburgh and a no-show against Clemson in the ACC Championship Game – has left many in South Florida assessing where they are on the aforementioned argument, and analyzing Rosier’s fortes and flaws.
It all sets up an intriguing question for 2018: will Rosier be Miami’s quarterback at all?
