Setbacks threatening Miami’s path to championship contention

Those with their orange-and-green glasses thought the Mark Richt era would follow a straight-and-narrow path.

First year, he would clean out the dusty and disheveled corners of the Miami program, adding and subtracting players through recruiting and attrition. Second year, he would continue a much-needed facelift, building through recruiting. Entering his third year, he would finally have a team that looks like a championship contender.
