Miami defensive tackle Gerald Willis will be suspended for the Hurricanes’ Sept. 3 opener against Florida A&M, according to the Palm Beach Post.
Willis, who sat out 2015 after transferring from Florida to UM last offseason, is competing for playing time on the interior of the Canes’ defensive line. He will be classified as a redshirt sophomore this season.
As a true freshman at Florida in 2014, Willis played in eight games, logging 14 tackles. He was also responsible for a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
