CANES OFFER 2018 QUARTERBACK

Miami offered a class of 2018 quarterback out of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Tyler Desue, a 6-1, 185-pound dual threat quarterback at Ocean Lakes High School, picked up his second ACC offer. Virginia had extended a scholarship offer to Desue in the spring, and he tweeted on July 13 that the Hurricanes had offered him as well. So far this summer, Desue has visited Penn State and attended Fedora’s Freak Show at UNC. He hopes to visit Virginia, Florida State and Tennessee before fall practice.

TWO CANES VERBALS IMPRESS AT THE OPENING

Two Miami verbals from the class of 2016 participated in the combine portion of Nike’s The Opening. Wide receiver Sam Bruce ran a 4.54 40-yard dash and turned in a 4.24 time in the 20-yard agility drill. He threw a weighted powerball 37 feet from a kneeling position and had a vertical jump of 35.3 inches. The performance gave him an overall rating of 106.35, good for 15th among receivers. Running back Travis Homer topped his future teammate’s rating. Homer had a 4.50 40 time, a 4.25 agility time, a 40-foot powerball  throw and a 40.5 inch leap for an overall rating of 126.39. That was 15th highest overall and third among running backs.
