VERBAL COMMIT PLANNING OFFICIAL VISITS

Linebacker Zach McCloud is a 6-2, 218-pound 4-star linebacker in the class of 2016. He committed to Miami in November, but schools have continued to show interest. At least a half-dozen teams have offered McCloud scholarships since January. While McCloud says he’s still firmly committed to the Canes, he plans on taking a few visits, He’ll take an unofficial trip to Auburn over the summer, and he’s planning destinations for his official visits in the fall. Stanford, Florida, Florida State and Georgia are in the running for an official.

SAM BRUCE “VERY SOLID”

4-star wide receiver Sam Bruce is nearing his one-year anniversary as a Miami verbal commit. The 5-8, 180 pound Fort Lauderdale standout has become very popular over that period. He now boasts more than two dozen scholarship offers, including heavy hitters like Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Ohio State and Oregon. Despite the attention, Bruce assured everyone that he was “very solid” to Miami at the recent 7-on-7 tournament that the school hosted. One main reason is Miami receivers coach Kevin Beard, a former Canes player who also coached Bruce in high school.
