Miami adds graduate transfer

Former Texas safety Adrian Colbert has one year of eligibility remaining, and he’ll play that final season in Coral Gables. The 6-1, 206-pound safety announced the news Sunday via social media:

According to the Palm Beach Post, Colbert will graduate from Texas at the end of this semester. As a graduate transfer, he’ll be able to play for the Hurricanes this coming fall.

After redshirting in 2012, Colbert registered 26 tackles over the next three years in Austin. He saw most of his playing time in 2014, when he started four games. As a junior this past season, however, his time on the field took a significant dip.

Colbert will add experience to Miami’s secondary. The team’s two starting safeties from 2015 — Deon Bush and Dallas Crawford — exhausted their eligibility after the fall.
