Memories are strong in the Weldon household. It was 25 years ago that Casey Weldon, then Florida State’s quarterback, worked with a coach by the name of Mark Richt. In 1991, under Richt’s tutelage, Weldon was runner-up for the Heisman Trophy on another FSU team that finished in the top five in the country.
In 2017, there’s a good chance that Weldon’s son Cade also will work on Richt. Earlier this week, Weldon verbally committed to Miami, according to the Tampa Bay Times. A QB for Tampa Jefferson, Weldon made his choice after visiting campus and watching practice in Hurricanes’ first week of spring drills. Some thought he’d wind up at Florida State but Weldon indicated he’s committed to the Hurricanes.
