Canes get off on the right foot in league play

When Miami men’s basketball coach Jim Larranaga talked his players recently, he said, “All the guys are playing well but Ja’Quan Newton off the bench” has been his most pleasant surprise.

Newton has carved a niche as the team’s sixth man and once again he made a huge impact, this time in a 64-51 win over Syracuse.
