The 2015 ACC Football Kickoff marked the first time ever that Georgia Tech was picked to win the Coastal Division. With third-team All-ACC quarterback Justin Thomas back plus eight returning starters on defense, the program is looking for continued success after an 11-3 finish last fall.
While the Yellow Jackets are clearly one of the more dangerous teams in the Coastal, reaching 10 or more victories again this season will be an arduous task given their schedule. Virginia may have the most challenging non-conference slate in the country, but no ACC team has a tougher road from start to finish than the Ramblin’ Wreck.
Plenty of opponents on Tech’s schedule could cause problems for the Jackets, but three stand out the most.
3. Florida State
In a rematch of last year’s ACC Championship Game, Florida State will come to Atlanta with a lot of new faces in starting roles. Former Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston has moved on to the NFL, but Everett Golson will be taking snaps at quarterback after throwing for 3,445 yards and 29 touchdowns as a junior at Notre Dame last year. The Seminoles’ receiving corps is loaded with young talent that will test a Georgia Tech secondary that may be one of the best in the conference.
