Prior to recent conference realignment, Ohio and Michigan were afterthoughts on the list of states where ACC schools had built recruiting pipelines. Florida and Georgia were — and still remain — focal points of the league’s recruiting, and the Midwest was mostly ignored.
The additions of Louisville, Notre Dame, Pitt and Syracuse have expanded the ACC’s footprint, thus reaching new geographical areas for recruiting. As a result, more high school prospects from Ohio and Michigan are finding their way to ACC country to play at the college level.
