With spring ball practices coming to a close and summer practice right around the corner, starting running back positions are taking shape in the ACC. While schools like Pitt and North Carolina welcome back an experienced backfield from 2014, other ACC schools will look to reload this fall.
Clemson redshirt sophomore running back Wayne Gallman should be a focal point for a Tigers offense looking to provide balance for Deshaun Watson. Gallman ran for an impressive 769 yards on 161 carries. Look for that number to significantly rise in 2015. Gallman should contend for All-ACC honors.
Redshirt junior Marcus Allen will look to make an immediate impact for a Georgia Tech team losing six of its top seven running backs from a year ago. Virginia’s Taquan Mizzell and Miami’s Joseph Yearby are among a talented running back group expected to step up.
