Clemson kicker Ammon Lakip will be back with the Tigers for their game against Notre Dame, but Greg Huegel will continue to handle field goal duties, Dabo Swinney said Monday.
Lakip served a three-game suspension to start the season following an arrest this summer for DUI and possession of cocaine. In his absence, Huegel made four of five field goals and went a perfect 13-of-13 on extra points.
Swinney said later in the week that Lakip would have the opportunity to compete to be the No. 1 kicker for kickoffs for the matchup against the Fighting Irish.
“It would be great for (Lakip) to take a little bit of that pressure off of Huegel, but we’ll evaluate that during practice and see how it goes,” Swinney said. “Greg has done a fine job.”
Last season, Lakip was 21-of-28 on field goals and 43-of-44 on extra points.
