Clemson tight end Jay Jay McCullough has returned to the team, Dabo Swinney told reporters on Wednesday. The redshirt junior has not yet practiced this spring but is expected to be back on the field next week.
McCullough was suspended in November for an unspecified violation of team rules, missing the last four games of the season. Prior to the suspension, he started two games and caught seven passes for 96 yards and a touchdown.
The Fort Mill, South Carolina, native comes back to a tight end group that has been thinned by injuries. Junior Jordan Leggett leads the unit after starting seven games in 2014, and McCullough may take over the No. 2 spot on the spring depth chart right away.
Tight ends Stanton Seckinger and D.J. Greenlee are sidelined this spring as they recover from ACL injuries, and Milan Richard is currently sidelined with an ankle injury.
