Clemson starter out for Louisville game

Clemson center Ryan Norton suffered a sprained MCL in practice on Monday and will miss the Tigers’ Thursday night game at Louisville. A timetable for his return has not been set.

Norton has logged 26 career starts for Clemson and was named to the Rimington Trophy preseason watch list — awarded to the nation’s top center — this year. Despite leaving the opener against Wofford with a knee injury, he returned for the team’s 41-10 victory over Appalachian State.

Junior Jay Guillermo was listed as Norton’s backup on the team’s depth chart prior to the matchup with the Mountaineers. Guillermo saw action in eight games last season, starting one. He also played in the Tigers’ first two games this fall.
