Report: Boston College to hire Reid as defensive coordinator

According to Rivals.com, Iowa linebackers coach Jim Reid will be the next defensive coordinator at Boston College.

The report comes just two weeks after former Eagles defensive coordinator Don Brown accepted the same position at Michigan. Brown left after spending three years on Steve Addazio’s staff.

Reid arrived at Iowa in 2013 after serving three seasons as associate head coach and defensive coordinator at Virginia. Prior to his time in Charlottesville, his career included stints as a head coach at VMI and Richmond as well as stops with the Miami Dolphins, Bucknell, Syracuse and UMass as an assistant. He was also the defensive coordinator at Boston College during the 1994 season.

With Reid on staff, Iowa fielded one of the better defenses in the country over the last three seasons. The Hawkeyes finished No. 22 nationally in yards allowed per game each of the last two years and were No. 6 in that category in 2013.

At Boston College, Reid will inherit a defense that finished No. 1 in the country this fall in yards allowed per contest and yards allowed per play.
