Virginia Tech dismisses top pass rusher Trevon Hill after ODU loss

Less than 24 hours after Virginia Tech’s stunning loss at Old Dominion, the team dismissed its top pass rusher, defensive end Trevon Hill. Here’s the statement from Justin Fuente:

For the season, Hill leads Virginia Tech with 3.5 sacks; in the loss at ODU, he recorded 1.5 sacks, too. Through the first three contests, Hill averaged 1.5 tackles for loss per game — good for fifth in the ACC. He finishes his career at VT with 11.5 sacks.

This is just the latest chapter in what’s been a rough few months for Virginia Tech’s defense: Galen Scott’s resignation, and the dismissals of Adonis Alexander and Mook Reynolds. On that side of the ball, the Hokies also lost cornerback Jeremy Webb for the season with an Achilles injury, too.

Virginia Tech goes on the road this Saturday; the Hokies are in Durham to take on No. 22 Duke.
