Duke Basketball continues to keep its pipeline to Minnesota open. In the last five years, Duke has landed Tyus Jones, Gary Trent Jr. and Tre Jones all from the Land of 10,000 Lakes. As he announced on Friday afternoon, too, another name gets added to that list: 5-star power forward Matthew Hurt.

Hurt joins what is set to be another top-10 recruiting class for Duke. The Blue Devils already have commitments from Wendell Moore, Vernon Carey Jr. and Boogie Ellis — all 5-star recruits. This quartet will join Tre Jones, Marques Bolden, Jack White and Javin DeLaurier in Durham. Along with Alex O’Connell, Jordan Goldwire and Joey Baker, Duke could give a balanced, experienced roster — with Jones as the alpha.

The decision of Jones to likely return for his sophomore season may have played a role in Hurt’s commitment, too.
Hurt, who recently participated in the Nike Hoops Summit, is billed as a stretch 4; he should fit nicely with Carey and Bolden. The 6-foot-10 Hurt scored over 3,000 points in his prep career.
