NC State adds JUCO DB Darius Edmundson to 2021 class

Back in late June, NC State football added a commitment from JUCO defensive back Darius Edmundson. Initially, Edmundson was a part of the 2022 recruiting class; however, the Louisburg College prospect will arrive a year early.

Edmundson announced on Twitter — after a conversation with NC State’s staff — that he will enroll this summer with the 2021 class and play this fall.

This is similar to what NC State did last July: Rakeim Ashford, another JUCO defensive back, became a late addition to the team’s 2020 class. Ashford played well last season, before a shoulder injury cut things short.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound safety was a top-10 JUCO prospect and the No. 2 safety in the 2022 class, per 247 Sports.

Edmundson committed to NC State back on June 22 — two days after the Wolfpack offered a scholarship.

Prior to his time at Louisburg, Edmundson was a star at Bailey (N.C.) Southern Nash High. Edmundson was in the same 2019 class at Southern Nash with current NC State running back Bam Knight, now one of the ACC’s top running backs.

Earlier in June, NC State also landed 3-star cornerback Jackson Vick, another standout from Southern Nash. Vick will join NC State in 2022.
