One of the nation’s top basketball prospects in the class of 2017 — point guard Trevon Duval —has decided to take his game away from the East Coast and out to Texas.
According to multiple sources, the 5-star perimeter talent has decided to leave St. Benedict’s in Newark, New Jersey, and make his way to Advanced Prep International in Dallas for the upcoming 2016-2017 season. At Advanced Prep, Duval will be playing alongside top talent including 2016 Alabama guard commitment Terrance Ferguson, as well as uncommitted 5-star 2017 power forward Billy Preston.
“I wanted to go to a place that was high level, with everything from the players to the staff,” Duval told Jason Jordan of USA Today High School Sports.
Syracuse, as well as other ACC programs such as Duke, Miami, NC State, Pittsburgh, and Virginia Tech, will all likely continue to aggressively target the 6-2 Duval, who Rivals lists as the nation’s No. 2 prospect in the class of 2017, and the 247Sports Composite lists as the country’s No. 3 overall prospect, and the No. 1 point guard.
