Syracuse OL to miss 2017 season

Redshirt junior guard Aaron Roberts (Chicago, Ill.) suffered an injury to his left knee during summer conditioning and will miss the 2017 season, head coach Dino Babers announced Saturday, July 29. Roberts started all 12 games at left guard last season and led the Orange in both snaps played (968) and knockdown blocks (39).

A 6-4, 297-pound product of Chicago’s De La Salle Institute, Roberts played in 15 games overall the past two seasons after redshirting as a true freshman in 2014. He helped the Orange amass 5,290 yards of total offense in 2016, the second-best mark in school history, and protected a collection of SU quarterbacks who ranked 11th nationally in passing at 321.3 yards per game.

Syracuse opened fall camp Sunday and begins the 2017 campaign at home Friday, Sept. 1 against Central Connecticut State.
