Miami football: 3 heated position battles to watch in the spring

Optimism is high at Miami.

The Hurricanes are in Year 2 of the Mark Richt era, and the second season of any head coach’s tenure always leads fans to believe that the mistakes of the first season were made mostly because the coach hadn’t the time or means to do things his way.

Year 2? Order has been established.

In this case, the Canes get a reasonable schedule to work with in 2017. They also return their defensive front seven and lots of talented skill-position players.

Optimism will skyrocket this fall if spring brings answers to these key position battles. Which areas will see the most heated competition?
