It’s never too early to start looking ahead at some of the top gridiron prospects in the Southeast.
And in terms of offensive linemen in the state of North Carolina in the class of 2017, one prospect has emerged in recent months as a potential blue chip — Jonah Melton of Eastern Alamance High School in Mebane.
The 6-4, 290-pound Melton is currently listed in the Rivals 100 as the No. 75 overall player nationally, regardless of position, in the 2017 class. A consensus 4-star recruit, both Rivals and 247Sports currently list Melton as the No. 2 gridiron recruit in North Carolina, while Rivals lists Melton as the country’s No. 3 junior offensive guard prospect.
