Notre Dame basketball is official part of the 2021 field for the Maui Invitational. This will mark the fourth time that program has competed in the event: 1993, 2008 and 2017. The rest of the tournament field is composed of Oregon, St. Mary’s, Wisconsin, Texas A&M, Houston, Chaminade and Butler.

Back in 2017, Notre Dame won the Maui Invitational — capped with a dramatic one-point win over Landry Shamet and Wichita State. (At the time of the victory, Notre Dame was 6-0 and a top 12 team in KenPom. It’s unfortunate how injuries to Bonzie Colson and Matt Farrell that season took away what could’ve been a special run in South Bend.)
After the game, Mike Brey celebrated in style. Perhaps we will get a repeat performance in 2021.
And you thought Maui Mike Brey’s sideline attire was casual …
