Tigers lose key contributor to transfer

Clemson is set to enter 2017 with one of the nation’s top defensive lines, but one key piece with remaining eligibility won’t be back.

According to TigerNet.com, defensive tackle Scott Pagano has asked for a release from his scholarship and plans to transfer to another program.

The son of Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano, Scott Pagano signed with Clemson as a consensus 4-star recruit in the 2013 class. He started nine games in 2015, registering 51 tackles, but as injuries factored into the equation and the staff restocked with talent, Pagano logged only four starts this past fall.

Per the report, Pagano graduated in December with a degree in sociology. He has one year of eligibility remaining and will be able to play right away.
