Swinney: ‘This team is different than any team I’ve ever had’

Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney joined The David Glenn Show this week to talk about his new $30 million contract, the perception of his program and what’s in store for this year’s team.

During the conversation, Swinney stated that Clemson enters this season with an advantage that none of his previous teams have ever had.

“The experience that we got last year was what we needed,” he said. “I think it’s priceless as far as your development as a program. It’s one thing to dream about something, but it’s another thing to experience it.

Last fall, the Tigers made a run to the College Football Playoff National Championship before falling to Alabama, finishing the year 14-1.

“This team is different than any team I’ve ever had, coming back, because they have an experience that no previous team that I’ve coached has had,” Swinney said. “They can draw upon a national championship run. They can draw upon the pain that comes from not getting it done, coming up a little short. They can draw upon an ACC Championship and the pressure that comes from being number one from poll to poll all year.”
