Duke to play Michigan State Champions Classic on Dec. 1

With college basketball season rapidly approaching, one of its premier early-season events has a date. The 2020 Champions Classic, which was launched in 2011, will be played in Orlando on Dec. 1.

During this year’s event, Duke will play Michigan State; Kentucky will take on Kansas.

In the 2019 version of this event, played at Madison Square Garden, Duke defeated Kansas 68-66. The year prior, Zion Williamson and RJ Barrett blitzed a Kentucky team with PJ Washington and Tyler Herro 114-84.

Duke and Michigan State last faced one another in this series back in 2017; that year, Grayson Allen led the Blue Devils to victory with 37 points.

There are plenty of challenges on the horizon this season — as college hoops tries to play amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. But for now, one of its headline events is on the docket.
