Dave Doeren on recruiting during a pandemic: “Thank God, that night Zoom didn’t quit on us”

After posting a strong 8-3 record this season, NC State football (7-3 ACC) is ready for some postseason action. While discussing NC State’s 2021 recruiting class with the media (on National Signing Day), head coach Dave Doeren stated that his team plans to play in a bowl game this year. Several ACC teams, including Pitt and Boston College, opted out of playing in a bowl game.

On Thursday, Doeren joined Josh Graham on The Sports Hub Triad (WSJS). Doeren stressed the pride he has for this team, given the bizarre and risky circumstances of the 2020 season. NC State’s head man also mentioned that injured quarterback Devin Leary is now out of a walking boot.

Doeren provided an update on the program’s 2021 recruiting class: challenges that came during this cycle, the use of virtual tours on Zoom, signees graduating early and enrolling at NC State, and the 2021 spring high school football season in North Carolina.
