Miami counting on two redshirt freshmen to play bigger roles

The NCAA trouble Miami was in over the last half-decade was far-reaching. But perhaps the longest-lasting of the effects was the depth chart hits.

The loss of nine scholarships over three seasons meant players who would have otherwise redshirted were forced to play.

In the 2016 class, only four freshmen of the 18 who signed redshirted in their first years on campus. That means most of Miami’s youngest players were learning on the job and that there are only a handful of Hurricanes redshirt freshmen to watch out for this year.
