Back in April, Bronco Mendenhall and Virginia secured a solid commitment from 3-star S/LB Will Hardy. However, eight months later and with Mendenhall’s decision to step down, Hardy flipped his commitment; he’s now a part of North Carolina’s 2022 recruiting class.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Hardy played his prep ball for Norcross (Ga.) Greater Atlanta Christian.

Initially, Hardy picked Virginia over a host of other programs, including Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh, Boston College and Coastal Carolina.
Hardy checks in as the No. 837 prospect in 247 Sports Composite Rankings.
With early signing period fast approaching, Hardy is the 17th commit in UNC’s 2022 class, which ranks No. 8 nationally, per 247 Sports. Hardy is one of two prospects in the class from the state of Georgia; 4-star cornerback Marcus Allen is the other.
Obviously, this is something that new Virginia head coach Tony Elliott must be prepared to handle. With the coaching change, rival programs will look to poach UVA commits.
